{Water & Dreams}

Sanibel Island is my family's long-time vacation spot. Was just dreaming about the sea today so I thought I'd pull some old (2012) photos from the last time I was there.

My sister (a Pisces) makin a necklace outta seaweed. Typical Neptunian lady.

 Included this one in the bunch because I love the colors that the editing brought out. This romper is still one of my favorite pieces in my wardrobe.

I'm also rocking out (very, very softly) to this tonight, which takes my mind to a dreamy waterworld:

{Holiday Leftovers}

I've been overwhelmingly busy with work since I got back to Minneapolis from Puerto Rico. This is the first chance I've gotten to edit and organize a few of our pics.

My sister and I mainly chose outfits based on what would keep us the coolest in the scorching 90-degree temperatures.  What none of these pictures capture (luckily for you, dear reader) are the buckets of sweat that constantly dripped from our faces (and onto the beautiful tiles of any store or restaurant we entered).

It was a great trip and was just what we needed--a break from the winter cold. We basked in the sun, got lost, drank some rum, met some nice people, met some dodgy people, went to some cathedrals, went to some fortresses, ate mofongo, ate waffles, drank coffee, and mostly just farted around a lot since that's what Vonnegut says we were put on this earth to do.

{Grace by the Sea}

 As we prepare for winter's arrival in Minneapolis, South Africa's ushering in its summer season. One of my friends recently asked me to look for some high-waisted bikinis for her, so swimwear's been on my mind lately.

And who better to look to for beach inspiration than Grace Kelly? She makes being classy look entirely too easy. While Kelly isn't my typical go-to fashion icon, there are times when I'd like to exhibit the cool outward reserve and demeanor that she so effortlessly exuded with her style and personality.

Here are a few modern pieces that echo Kelly's iconic beach look:

{Beach Love}

The only place where my wavy, unbrushed hair is labeled fashionable rather than unkempt is the beach, which is why it's one of my favorite places.  My romper in the photos below was one of those items that pushed me out of my comfort zone.  When I saw it online, I wanted to be the kind of person who was bold enough to wear something like that, so I went for it, and it's been one of my favorite wardrobe pieces since.
